Madras HC stays probe into complaint against Meera Mithun

Which also sought to quash the probe into the complaint given by one Ranjitha Badradri, pending before the Teynampet police station.

Chennai: The Madras high court has stayed all further investigation into the complaint against Tamil Selvi alias Meera Mithun, a Tamil actor, supermodel and also a contestant in the current season of Kamal Haasan’s Bigg Boss 3 realty show, alleging that she had cheated a woman to the tune of Rs 50,000, pending before the Teynampet police.

Justice N.Anand Venkatesh granted the interim stay on a petition filed by Tamil Selvi alias Meera Mithun, which also sought to quash the probe into the complaint given by one Ranjitha Badradri, pending before the Teynampet police station.

Petitioner’s counsel M.Shreedhar submitted that Ranjitha Badradri had lodged a complaint alleging that the petitioner had taken Rs 50,000 from her to give a slot and promote her in beauty competition and subsequently that event was cancelled and the petitioner had failed to refund the amount of Rs 50,000 paid by cash and thereby cheated the complainant to the tune of Rs 50,000. Hence, the complaint reveals only money dispute on the face of record. The petitioner is a Miss Tamil Nadu and Miss South India and later when the petitioner started her won modeling company and Event Brand, the Conventional Beauty contest Organizers formed a syndicate and caused hindrance to the activities of the petitioner and one of the petitioner’s event was also cancelled by the hotel authorities due to the Beauty contest organizers syndicate in Chennai.

The petitioner had lodged a complaint against one Joe Michael and others who even threatened her with the Commissioner of Police and so far no action was taken on the same, he added.

Shreedhar said meanwhile, the petitioner, due to her hard work, was selected for Bigg Boss 3 game show in a TV channel and started to participate in it and the Beauty contest organizers syndicate in Chennai headed by Joe Micheal once again started their character assassination of the petitioner among the public and hence, the winning chance was seriously affected by their social media and you tube propaganda. Hence, the petitioner’s mother Shyamala had lodged a complaint with the Commissioner of Police and same was referred to the cyber crime cell and also to All Women Police Station, Kilpauk for further action. When the Beauty contest organizers syndicate, Chennai was called for enquiry, Joe Micheal undertook in writing not to spread abuse message on petitioner in social media and you tube channels.

Suddenly on July 11, 2019, the police entered Bigg Boss studio for investigation and demanded the petitioner to settle the complainant’s claim or face arrest. The allegations in the complaint clearly reveals money dispute, in fact the defacto complainant’s sponsorship cheque issued itself admittedly got bounced as per FIR and due to professional enmity the complaint was lodged against her. The case was a false case and the police cannot investigate civil dispute. The complainant was highly influential, who was now harassing the petitioner to settle a false civil claim by filing a false case and trying to arrest her and thereby eliminate her from the Bigg Boss 3 TV show on a false case, he added.
