Actor Mohanlal not guilty in elephant tusk case: Forest department

n an affidavit, the chief forest conservator upheld the smiliar argument Mohanlal had put forward.

Kochi: The forest department has told the high court on Friday that the elephant tusks owned by actor Mohanlal came to his possession passed on by generations.

In an affidavit, the chief forest conservator upheld the smiliar argument Mohanlal had put forward.

The argument that the actor managed to get the tusk through illegal means cannot be sustained, the forest department said and recommended for quashing the private complaint against Mohanlal in the matter.

The income tax department found the elephant tusks during the inspection of Mohanlal’s residence at Thevara in Kochi in 2012. The actor was not found having the license to keep the elephant tasks and the same was kept in the name of licenses of two other persons.

The complainant stated that the ownership of the tusks was handed over to the actor without making proper investigation.
