Rich tributes paid to Rajya Sabha Member Palvai Govardhan Reddy
New Delhi: Leaders cutting across party lines reached 20, Gurudwara Rakabganj Road, residence of Rajya Sabha Member Palvai Govardhan Reddy, who passed away on June 9, to pay tributes on Wednesday.
Besides politicos, friends, family members and followers of Palvai also reached his residence to pay tributes.
NDA Vice-President candidate M. Venkaiah Naidu, former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Union minister Bandaru Dattatreya, Rajya Sabha member T. Subbarami Reddy, Amar Singh, former Union ministers Sharad Pawar and A.K. Antony, Congress leader Digvijay Singh, Anil Shastri, Janardan Dwivedi were some of the prominent personalities who paid floral tribute to Palvai.
They extended condolences to the family members after paying floral tributes and also wrote in the visitors’ book. Mr Venkaiah Naidu and Mr Manmohan Singh sat for some time and listened to the bhajans and devotional songs being recited by artiste Dayanand Parihast.
Mr Dattatreya was among the last persons to leave.
A montage on Palvai’s life through pictures from his college days, of his time with former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru, and his social activities was flashed on a large screen. An audio-visual presentation titled ‘Journey of Eight Decades’ was also shown. Singer Parihast sang bhajans composed by Meerabai, Kabir, Tulsidas, Raskhan and others.
Palvai was born on November 20, 1936 and passed away on June 9, 2017. He represented Munugodu constituency and was a Member of AP Legislative Council from 2007 to 2009.
He was elected to the Rajya Sabha in 2012.
