Kozhikode: A delegation of Indian Union Muslim League visited the family of Junaid, 17, of Haryana, the victim of anti-beef campaigners, on Tuesday and handed over a new taxi cab to Jalaluddin, his father. The IUML leaders had earlier visited the family and promised to give a taxi cab to Jalaluddin as he had to sell the one he owned earlier.
The youth was lynched by a group of Sangh Parivar workers alleging that he had kept beef during a train journey.
IUML leader Sadiquali Shihab Thangal handed over the key and registration documents to Jalaluddin. Addressing the gathering, IUML leader P.K. Kunhalikkutti MP told reporters at Faridabad, Haryana, that the move was to express solidarity with the victims of such communal atrocities and instil confidence in them. The party would also meet the educational expenses of the siblings of Junaid. “This is a way of showing empathy to the victims of such inhuman elements,” he added.
Earlier, the party had brought Mohammad Azharuddin, friend of Junaid and Mohammad Hashim, Junaid’s brother, to Kerala as part of a campaign against fascism.
Those who were present on the occasion included E.T. Muhammed Basheer, P.V. Abdul Wahab MP and KMCC leaders K.P. Muhammed Kutti and C.P. Musthafa.
