Medical student kidnapped in Delhi rescued
Hyderabad: Delhi police rescued a medical student, a native of Gadwal, from kidnnappers at Meerut in Uttar Pradesh following a shootout.
The police and kidnappers fired at each other more than 20 rounds during the operation.
Dr Akkala Srikanth Goud (29), a medical post graduate student from Gadwal, was allegedly kidnapped by a taxi driver in Delhi two weeks earlier. Goud, a student of Preet Vihar Metro Hospital, was returning home in a cab after dinner when he was kidnapped.
According to police while returning, he missed his last metro train after his dinner to reach his home at Gautam Nagar. He then booked an Ola cab to travel to his destination. Early the next morning someone from the Ola management contacted the Preet Vihar Police Stationat around 4 am and told them that a passenger was kidnapped by the driver of their vehicle and that a demand for '5 crore ransom was being made.
The police here are tight-lipped regarding the case and are not forthcoming with details.
Following a complaint from the firm, Delhi police booked a case and started an investigation. They tracked down the suspect in UP following his driver’s license and house address.
The Delhi police have informed Goud’s family members that he was unharmed and healthy.
Goud had completed his medical degree from Jiujiang University in China and got registered with the AP Medical Council in 2013. Having secured Medical Council of India’s clearance, he settled down in Delhi some time back, his friends disclosed.
