Hyderabad: Former MLC Altaf Hyder Rizvi has asked the Telangana State Wakf Board (TSWB) to stop the ‘encroachments’ at the Ashoorkhana Mir Qurban Ali in Somajiguda.
In a letter addressed to the CEO, TSWB, he said that Ashoorkhana is located on 358 square yards of land and finds mention in the Wakf Board Gazette. “The Wakf Tribunal has passed an order in favour of the Wakf Board and the latter should have immediately acted. Due to their inaction, the prime land is being encroached upon.”
Wakf Board CEO M.A. Mannan Farooqui said that he had instructed the officials concerned to visit the place. Mr Rizvi has also asked the Medchal collector to probe the ‘demolition’ of Ashoorkhana–e-Shahzad-e-Qasim located at Nagaram in Keesara. He alleged that a few persons had wilfully demolished the holy place.
