Red-faced BJP sacks UP leader from all party posts for abusing Mayawati
New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has sacked Uttar Pradesh vice-president Dayashankar Singh from all posts following his remarks labelling Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) supremo Mayawati 'worse than a prostitute'.
Singh was quick to apologise for his remark after outrage. "I apologise for my remark. Mayawati is a big leader. I cannot say such a thing about anyone," said Dayashankar Singh, backtracking on his earlier remarks. "I can't even think about Mayawatiji in such a way. She has reached here after a lot of struggle," he added.
Uttar Pradesh BJP president Keshav Prasad Maurya said that Dayashankar's remark was unacceptable and therefore he had been removed from all party posts.

However, Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) leader Satish Mishra called for legal action. "We Will lodge an FIR against Dayashankar Singh and drag him in court. We will do whatever possible," he said.
Mawayati had earlier condemned Singh's remarks against her and said that the BJP leader had insulted his sisters and mother since everyone called her 'Behenji'. She demanded that Singh be arrested failing which she 'will not be responsible' if violence erupts.
Finance Minister Arun Jaitley expressed regret for Daya Shankar Singh’s remarks in Parliament.
"It is not right and I condemn the use of this word. I express personal regret. I associate with your dignity and stand with you," Arun Jaitley said. Mayawati then thanked the Finance Minister for his intervention.
Singh had claimed that Mayawati sells poll tickets to people based on how much they are willing to pay for it.
Singh said: "Mayawati is selling tickets…..she is such a big leader, a three-time chief minister...but she gives ticket to anyone who gives her Rs 1 crore. If someone comes with 2 crores in the afternoon, she gives him a ticket. If somebody comes with 3 crores in the evening, she dumps the previous candidates and picks him. Today her character is worse than that of a prostitute."
Parliament was witness to outrage from the Opposition parties on Wednesday over the beating up of Dalits by upper-caste men in Gujarat for skinning a dead cow.
