2.32 crore LED bulbs to be distributed in Andhra Pradesh
Rajahmundry: In a bid to save power, state government has come up with an action plan to distribute 2.32 crore LED bulbs in the state. AP Energy Mission chief executive officer Chandrasekhar Reddy told newsmen here on Tuesday that when the state suffered industrial production loss to the tune of Rs 25 crore in the last fiscal due to imposition of power cut, it realised self-sufficiency in the power sector at present and was supplying power to the consumers 24x7 in the state.
As part of efforts to conserve energy, the state government had targeted to distribute 1.87 crore LED bulbs in the state and added that they surpassed the target and distributed 1.92 crore bulbs. He said that nearly 32 per cent of energy was being saved per annum as the consumers were using the distributed LED bulbs and added that each consumer could save up to Rs 250 to Rs 500.
The CEO said that when the power consumption was recorded at 1, 730 million units in the state last year, it had come down to 1,600 million units due to usage of energy efficient bulbs. He said that they were going to give away two more bulbs to tribals. On agriculture pump sets, he said that out of 2.2 crore pump sets existing in the country, 16 pump sets were being used in the state and added that they were going to be upgraded as five star rated units.
