TN AICC secretary Sanjay Dutt calls for united protests to resolve water crisis

Sanjay Duty also called for a united protest by the parties in the Congress-DMK coalition across the state.

THOOTHUKUDI: The All India Congress Committee secretary- in-charge, Tamil Nadu affairs, Sanjay Dutt, came down heavily on the Tamil Nadu government for being indifferent towards the current water crisis in the state.

Speaking to media persons here on Wednesday, the AICC secretary accused the AIADMK government led by chief minister Edappadi K. Palaniswamy of grossly neglecting the drinking water problem that now has become a severe crisis.

Sanjay Duty also called for a united protest by the parties in the Congress-DMK coalition across the state, to force the AIADMK government take steps to resolve the issue.

Thanking the people of Tamil Nadu for giving the Congress-DMK alliance an overwhelming mandate in the recently concluded parliamentary elections, Sanjay Dutt assured that the Congress and its president Rahul Gandhi would stand by the oppressed sections of the people in the state, and represent their hopes and aspirations.

Stating that the present biggest challenge for the country is to safeguard its democracy and protect the constitution, the AICC secretary called all democratic and secular forces in the country to rally behind Rahul Gandhi, for the struggle to protect democracy and secularism.

Earlier, the Congress secretary along with his party colleagues participated in a cake-cutting ceremony organised by Thoothukudi DMK MLA P Geetha Jeevan, at the district DMK office, to celebrate the birthday of Congress national president Rahul Gandhi.
