On 12th hearing, activists urge panel to find Mugilan

THOOTHUKUDI: Members of the anti-Sterlite Tamil Federation on Wednesday submitted video evidence of the police firing on the public with the one-man commission enquiring into the Thoothukudi firing on May 22 last year, also demanded swift action to find the missing activist, Mugilan.

The one-man commission, chaired by retired High Court judge Aruna Jegadeesan, conducting enquiry since June 2018 into the police firing on the anti-sterlite protestors killing 13 persons held its 12th hearing here, on Wednesday.

 

Representatives of the various protesting organisations, political parties and individual activists appeared before the commission and presented their evidences.

Coordinator of the Anti-Sterlite Tamil People’s Federation, Krishnamurthy, who also was summoned by the commission, submitted the video evidence of the police firing. It was the video that Mugilan compiled and released before media persons in Chennai.

The anti-sterlite activists who appeared before the one-man commission also are said to have put forth their demand to find activist Mugilan, who reportedly went missing the very night of the press meet, when he first released the video evidence of the firing, around hundred days back. Mugilan has been missing since late night on February 15.

The commission has so far heard witnesses of 329 people, including the injured and the relatives of the 13 persons killed in the police firing.
