T-Hub-Otis throws start-up challenge
Hyderabad: T-Hub and American tech conglomerate, Otis Elevator Co, called for start-ups on Tuesday, seeking innovative solutions for integration with elevators, escalators, and travellators (moving walkways). Five start-ups are expected to be shortlisted, of which each shortlisted start-up will get $10,000 for developing the Proof of Concept. The Otis Innovation Challenge, which opens on Tuesday, closes on July 22.
The start-ups are expected to develop solutions around automated and intelligent crowd detection, classification of humans into subtypes like male and female, child and adult, identification of people, crowd near the elevator, information that can reduce energy or other environmental impact of the elevator, escalator or travellator. Technologies capable of using information sources such as cameras, sensors, schedules, real-time traffic, transit and weather forecasts to analyse data for Otis products can be utilised for this challenge.
“We have already done one challenge with T-Hub and UTC. Putting forth this challenge again is something we are proud of.” said IT Secretary Jayesh Ranjan
This is the second time Otis, which is the Elevator division of United Technologies Corporation(UTC), has partnered with T-Hub. Last year 50 start-ups applied, of which three start-ups are currently developing their proof of concepts. Jay Krishnan, CEO of T-Hub said “UTC’s intent to continue partnering with us is both, a validation of synergies in the deep tech space, as well as a continued engagement from 2017”.
Meanwhile an agency which promotes Korean investments in India visited T-Hub.
