Vellore: Three persons of a family were killed on the spot and seven others including 4 children and three women were seriously injured when the Tata Sumo vehicle they were travelling in collided with a container lorry at Serkadu Mutharasikuppam near Katpadi in Vellore district on Tuesday.
Police gave the names of the deceased as Kumar, 55, his wife Esther Rani, 50, and their 30-year-old son Karthi, all of whom died on the spot. They belong to Madhanur near Ambur in the district, police said.
Four other persons travelling by the same vehicle including three women and four children who suffered critical injuries have been admitted to the Vellore government hospital. Further investigations are on.
