Heavy rains in Hyderabad up to June 20

In the last 24 hours till 8.30 am on Monday the city 24 mm of rainfall overall.

Hyderabad: The southwest monsoon has been vigorous over the state. Heavy to very heavy rain lashed Hyderabad and several districts in the last 24 hours. The state is under a ‘heavy rainfall’ warning up to June 20th.

In Hyderabad, Trimulgherry and Bandlaguda received 4 cm rainfall, Monda Market and Musheerabad 3 cm.

The city experienced flash rain — heavy rainfall for a short duration — on Monday. Water stagnation was seen at Sitara Hotel at LB Nagar, Maithri Vanam and Kukatpally, which caused massive traffic jams. A dilapidated vacant building collapsed at Jeera. No casualities were reported. The monsoon has been vigorous over the state because of a trough extending along the east coast that has kept the monsoon surge active over coastal AP and Telangana state. Besides, humid winds from the Bay of Bengal were blowing into the region, helping in the formation of convective clouds.
