Playschools need registration in Telangana
Hyderabad: The education department is having a crackdown on pre-schools and playschools that did not apply for permission as was directed seven months ago. Following instructions from senior officials, district education officers have begun closing down such schools.
The department had asked school managements to seek permission if they ran pre-school sections (Nursery, LKG and UKG) after the death of a four-year-old nursery student in an elevator in a playschool in Dilsukhnagar.
According to Mr Srikanth Reddy, who runs a playschool, only 200 out of the over 900 playschools in the city have applied for permission.
Besides, there are another 4,000 private schools in Hyderabad and Ranga Reddy districts that have been asked to re-apply for permission for running their pre-primary sections.
The managements of these schools have asked education minister Kadiyam Srihari to exempt them. The government is yet to take a decision.
Mr Srinivas Reddy of the Private Schools Association said, “Earlier when we sought permission for pre-primary sections, the department did not accept our proposals stating recognition will be considered for Classes I to X. Asking such schools to apply again is not justified.”
Schools are being told to pay enrolment fund of Rs 25,000) and Rs 10,000 challan and produce no-objection certificates from the sanitary wing and the traffic police.
