Proposal for alternatives to Gough Road prepared

5 proposals to be submitted to KCR for approval.

Hyderabad: Chief secetary S.K. Joshi on Saturday said that five proposals for laying elevated corridors and grade roads, which would serve as alternatives to Gough Road in the AOC Secunderabad Cantonment area, have been prepared by the official committee.

The committee was set up in April to study the feasibility of construction of flyovers instead of alternative roads.

It comprises the roads and buildings engineer-in-chief C. Ravinder Rao, GHMC chief engineer R. Sridhar and AOC Commandant Eshwar Dutt.

Mr Joshi said these elevated corridors and grade roads would be useful for civilians as well as the military in the Cantonment area.

Mr Joshi held a meeting with officials to discuss the alternative roads and flyovers for AOC Cantonment roads and the proposals prepared by them apart from the costs and land acquisition involved.

The meeting was attended by Telangana and Andhra Sub Area General Officer Commanding, Major General N. Srinivas Rao, roads and buildings principal secretary Sunil Sharma, GHMC commissioner B. Janardhan Reddy, Secunderabad Cantonment Board chief executive officer S.V.R. Chandrasekhar, apart from officials from revenue and municipal departments.

Mr Joshi told officials that the five proposals would be submitted to Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao, for approval.

The CS said the proposed elevated corridors and grade roads involved financial implications due to property acquisition for construction and the state goverment will take a call on the quantum of funds to be shared by state and central governments for this.

Issues of Gough Road, the field firing range at Jawaharnagar and military lands in Shameerpet too came up at the meeting.

Mr Joshi sought a report related to military security such as watch tower training and infrastructure needed for medical facilities.
