Relief letter on Gough road still awaited
Hyderabad: With only 10 days left, starting from May 20th, the expected relief letter still hasn’t been received from the Ministry of Defence over the closure of Gough road, that connects AOC Circle to Neredmet, if the TRS politicians are to be believed. There was a bit of a stir after the residents made a commotion about the soon-approaching deadline, May 31, for the closure of Gough road. A team of TRS politicians left for New Delhi to meet Defence Chief Mr. Arun Jaitley to discuss the matter. After the meeting, Malkajgiri MP Ch. Malla Reddy confirmed that Gough road will not be closed, until the alternatives are in place.
However, after reports about this surfaced, the local military authorities notified the closure of Gough Road on May 31. And since then, there has not been any communication from the Ministry of Defence, nor have the Local Military authorities received a relief letter to extend the deadline. There is uncertainty with regard to the deadline extension. The closure will hit commute routes between Secunderabad and several northern parts of the city.
In the past, the Telangana government had managed to convince the Defence Ministry to let local military authorities keep the road open with assurances to develop an alternative. The residents hope the same thing will happen, this time around.
