Hyderabad: A fresh survey ordered by Chief Minister and TRS Chief K. Chandrasekhar Rao to rate the performance of the government, Lok Sabha members and MLAs in the state has created ripples among the ruling party leaders. This will be the third survey, barely three months after the results of the second one came in.
According to TRS sources, Mr Rao has gone through reports of the two earlier surveys conducted last year and in February this year.
TRS sources say that the latest survey will include a new feature to understand the pulse of the people on different political parties, especially the BJP.
Sources said that more surveys will be conducted at regular intervals till the 2019 elections, their main purpose being identification of the legislators lagging behind in performance in their local constituencies.
“It’s to assess the political pulse as on date. The CM will take appropriate corrective steps, including issuing warning to non-performers. Of course, the findings of the survey will have an impact on the chances of the legislators being fielded again,” a key source told DC.
A reputed organisation will conduct the survey in at least two weeks and submit its findings to the CM. Incidentally, Mr Rao had read out the findings of the second survey to all the legislators in a meeting last March.
He had specifically asked the non-performers to shape up and told them that their performance would be rated in a third survey. Mr Rao also told them clearly that only performers will get TRS tickets in next elections.
With regard to performance, a few ministers did show an improvement in the second survey compared to the first, but their performance vis-a-vis their local constituencies had dropped.
As per the second survey report, the TRS is set to bag 101 to 106 of the 119 Assembly seats in the state if elections were to be held at the time of the survey (February 2017).
