Coimbatore: Fearing exam failure, girl ends life

According to police, Shalini 16, a resident of Peelamedu Vinobaji Nagar appeared for the 10th board exams held last month.

Coimbatore: In an extremely painful tragedy, a 16-year-old girl allegedly committed suicide 12 hours before the results of the class ten State board examinations were declared on Friday.

According to police, Shalini 16, a resident of Peelamedu Vinobaji Nagar appeared for the 10th board exams held last month.

She was worried about her results and consumed pesticide in her bedroom on Thursday afternoon, fearing failure in the examination. Her parents knocked the door, but there was no response for a long time. They broke open the door to find their daughter lying unconscious on the ground. They took her to the government hospital where Shalini died on Thursday night.However, the school where the girl studied clocked centum results (all passes) in the examination this year. Peelamedu police have lodged a complaint and further investigations are on.
