Tirupur tops the state with 95.37 per cent in plus-2 results

The Directorate would send result through SMS to more than eight lakh students who appeared in the examinations.

Chennai: The girl students have come out with flying colours in the results of Higher Secondary Certificate examination declared by the Directorate of Government Examinations on Friday. The girls have outperformed boys with 93.64 per cent while 88.57 per cent of boys passed examination. A total of 1,281 schools have passed with 100 per cent result.

Tirupur district tops the state with 95.37 per cent pass percentage followed by Erode with 95.23 per cent and Perambalur district by 95.15 per cent. The pass percentage of candidates with disability stood at 89.1 per cent and among 45 adult prisoners, who appeared for exams this year, 34 have cleared it.

The overall pass percentage stood at 91.3 per cent which is slightly higher than the number in 2018. Last year, the pass percentage was 91.1 per cent. The results declared involve only those schools in Tamil Nadu which use the syllabus and textbooks prescribed by the state government. It does not include CBSE, ICSE and other boards of education.

After Tirupur and Erode, the Perambalur district secured third place in the State with 95.15 per cent. With a pass percentage of 92.96 per cent, Chennai was 14th district in Tamil Nadu.

The government schools in the state recorded pass per cent of 84.76, government aided schools with 93.64 per cent, metric schools with 98.26 per cent, co-education schools 91.67 per cent, girls higher secondary schools with 92.75 per and boys higher secondary school with pass per cent of 83.47 per cent.

As for the performance of government schools in state, Kanyakumari district has recorded the highest pass percentage with 92.64 per cent of its students clearing the examination. Tiruvallur district has recorded 76.14 per cent, which is the lowest in the state.

Among the subjects, the pass percentage for mathematics was the highest at 96.25 per cent and the pass percentage for the commerce paper was the lowest with 91.23 per cent.

Boy students recorded the highest pass percentage in Home Science subject and girls recorded the highest pass percentage in mathematics subject.

The Directorate has declared the results on websites: - www.tnresults.nic.in, www.dge1.tn.nic.in,www.dge2.tn.nic.in and students can download mark statements from April 20 to 26 through website or through their schools.

The students can also apply for copy of their answer scripts and retotalling through their schools from April 22 to 24. The students are required to pay a fee of Rs 275 to get the copy of the answer script.

For retotalling they have to pay a fee of Rs 205 for each subject except biology. For biology they have to pay Rs 305.

The students can also pay the fees for retotalling and revaluation in their respective schools. Supplementary exams will be held from June 6 to 13.

The exams for 10+ 12 started on March 1 and ended on March 19 and a total of 8,69,423 students appeared for the examinations.
