Thiruvananthapuram: World Earth Day fiesta tomorrow
Thiruvananthapuram: As part of the observation of World Earth Day, Change Can Change Climate Change, in association with Project Sthithi, will organise a fete – SPARSHA 2019 – in the state capital on Sunday. As part of the programme, the organisers are holding various competitions for children.
Bharat Govind G. S. of Project Sthiti says that the young generation is the key to spread awareness about climate. “The young generation needs to be sensitised. Climate change and species extinction can be tackled only with the pro-active participation from all walks of society. Our aim is to give a platform to spread the awareness on sustainable lifestyle practices,” says Govind.
Various competitions including painting, elocution and quiz would be held as part of the world earth day celebrations which is being held at the Centre for De-addiction and Behaviour Sciences, Department of Psychiatry at Medical College Hospital here.
Painting competition will be for juniors and sub-juniors, and there will be separate elocution competition for juniors and seniors respectively. The general quiz would be another highlight of the event.
Member of State Planning Board R. Ramakumar would be attending the event, which aims at highlighting concerns about climate change. Registration for attending the event will begin at 9.30 am on Sunday.
