Modi is now playing caste card: Gudur Narayana Reddy

Reddy said Modi served as Chief Minister of Gujarat for three terms but enjoyed calling himself chaiwala.

Hyderabad: The state Congress has alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has started playing the caste card after hitting out at the slogan ‘chowkidar chor hai’.

TPCC treasurer Gudur Narayana Reddy said in a statement on Friday that Mr Modi had “always displayed an unhealthy pattern of thinking, functioning and behaviour”. He alleged that Mr Modi was suffering from a personality disorder.

Mr Reddy said Mr Modi served as Chief Minister of Gujarat for three terms but enjoyed calling himself chaiwala. “Despite serving as Prime Minister, he calls himself as chowkidar and now he is calling himself as someone to the backward classes,” he said. He condemned the suspension of IAS officer Mohammad Mohsin in Odisha for checking Mr Modi’s helicopter.

He said the Election Commission had acted in haste in taking action against the IAS officer, and the provisions under which action was taken do not exist.

He said no one, including the Special Protection Group which protects like the Prime Minister, is exempt from checks during the elections. As a general observer of Sambalpur constituency, the IAS officer had just done his job but was wrongly punished, Mr Reddy noted.
