Kakinada: VSM practical exams put off as college staff resorts to protest

Both management and staff lodged complaint with Ramachandrapuram police station against the other on this issue.

Kakinada: Practical examinations for degree students were postponed at the VSM College at Ramachandrapuram because of strike by teaching staff and others.

The management of the autonomous college had earlier terminated the services of a teaching faculty who had been serving for 22 years in the college. This allegedly happened when the individual brought several issues to the notice of the management but his words apparently fell on deaf ears. Expressing anger over the management's adamant behaviour, nearly 60 teaching and clerical staff went on a strike to take up the agitation. They condemned the ill-treatment to employees and teaching faculty and appealed the officials to give them justice.

Some TD leaders also supported the agitating staff. Both management and staff lodged complaint with Ramachandrapuram police station against the other on this issue. Meanwhile, the practical examinations have been postponed due to the strike. The VSM College students are concerned over such dishonour developments in the college.
