KOCHI: For the first time, Kerala State Electricity Board Limited has observed National Lineman Appreciation Day to honour the line workers who are working day and night in all conditions to ensure safe and quality power supply to consumers. Though various national big energy companies observe Lineman Appreciation Day, it is for the fir-st time that the KSEB observed the Day.
“Unlike previous times, the Board’s Safety Committee is giving more focus on the safety of line workers. As part of stepping up safety mechanism, safety committees have been constituted in all division and section office level. The decision to observe Lineman appreciation day is part of this,” said sources at KSEB.
“The Board which announced a zero accident year in 2018 could bring down the number of accidents and deaths by electrocution. The efforts are continuing this year also to completely avert mishaps involving linemen and the public. Safety kits have been provided to all line staff and action will be taken against those who are not using the kit,” sources added.
As part of observing Lineman appreciation day, line workers in all section offices across the state have been honoured and the best performing line staff were given awards.
