Coimbatore: Electronic voting machines (EVM) that were checked and sealed by officials were kept in the strong room in GCT College on Thadagam road in Coimbatore under the supervision of district collector Rajamani and observer Renu Jay-abal.
Following heavy rains and power cuts, packing and sealing work continued till the early hours of Friday. The EVMs were kept inside the strong room inside GCT college.
The strong room is being provided with fourtier security where armed police maintain a round-the-clock vigil in three shifts.
Around 150 policemen are deployed on security duty at GCT, and the strong room is being monitored with 112 CCTV surveillance cameras installed around it and various parts of the college premises.
The EVMs belonging to Pollachi constituency are being kept safe at Pollachi-Mahalingam College strong room with tight armed security that will remain there safely till counting on May 23, said an official.
