Telangana government not to cap surge pricing
Hyderabad: Telangana may not be acting on surge pricing of Uber unlike Karnataka or Maharashtra government, due to the market driven model of private cab aggregators.
“Uber has faced regulatory ups-downs in Bengaluru and Mumbai where authorities have put a cap on surge pricing. There were lot of pressure on us as well but we were very clear, this is market driven model and will never interfere in this case”, said IT secretary Jayesh Ranjan on Thursday.
He added that the Telangana government is providing regulatory support to Uber to give them confidence to bring more work activity and take up new partnership to establish a win-win relation.
Meanwhile, the cab service provider will collaborate with the open data wing of Telangana government, to provide its data on transits being made available on government website.
