GVL Narasimha Rao calls KCR true statesman'
Hyderabad: Telangana state Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao’s intention to float a Federal Front at the national level is being seen in some political circles as an attempt by the Telangana Rashtra Samiti chief to pursue an anti-Congress agenda to benefit the BJP at the Centre in the 2019 elections.
A recent tweet by Mr Rao’s son and IT minister K.T. Rama Rao, on April 12 — ‘Who knows who will end up supporting who’ — has further fuelled speculation about just who the TRS may get into bed with.
Then there is the fulsome praise of Mr Rao by BJP’s national spokesperson G.V.L. Narasimha Rao on Wednesday. He called the TS Chief Minister a “true statesman who stayed from the mudslinging against PM Modi despite his efforts to launch an alternate front against the BJP at the Centre”.
Political analysts point out that Mr Rao may not be able to take an open stand in favour of the BJP as it may erode his base among minorities and Dalits.
The TRS is hopeful of getting the support of both after it passed legislation increasing reservations for both though the Centre is delaying approval.
