Cordon and search held in Rajendranagar

Police seized 20 vehicles without valid documents from these sheds. They also seized 100 kg of gutka from the area.

Hyderabad: With the recent incidents of offenders taking shelter in residential areas and requests from residents of Hassannagar about the movement of strangers in the area, Rajendranagar police conducted a cordon and search operation on Thursday morning.

The cordon and search operation unearthed five sheds which were renting out spaces to autorickshaws for parking at night. Police seized 20 vehicles without valid documents from these sheds. They also seized 100 kg of gutka from the area. Five rowdy sheeters were also apprehended and their residences were checked during the operations.

DCP Shamshabad P.V. Padmaja said that the operation was aimed to find out if any suspects were taking shelter and also to give an assurance of safety to the residents in the area.

The sheds were spaces leased by locals, which were rented to autorickshaws. The persons running the sheds did not collect details of the vehicles or drivers. The space was rented for Rs 30 per night. The vehicles could be stolen or involved in any offence, which is an issue. “After verifying the details of the seized vehicles, we will write to the RTA for action on the vehicles,” the police said.
