We have no hand in AIADMK crisis, confusion, asserts BJP

The BJP has refuted the opposition charge that it had a role in the present political turmoil and dismissed the allegation.

CHENNAI: Faced by criticism from various quarters for the crisis and confusion in the AIADMK, the BJP has refuted the opposition charge that it had a role in the present political turmoil and dismissed the allegation as “baseless and far from truth.” Reacting to the accusation of AIADMK spokesperson Nanjil Sampath, BJP state president Dr. Tamilisai Soundararajan said it was unfair to blame her party for the present state of affairs in the ruling AIADMK. “There is no need for me to reply to Nanjil Sampath’s baseless charge. But, as far as I am concerned, the BJP always indulges in fair politics.”

“We never made a beginning to rise from the downfall of any party,” Dr. Tamilisai said on Wednesday and added that unlike Nanjil Sampath “she did not have the habit of blabbering.” The BJP, which had no role at all, cannot be blamed for AIADMK’s internal affair. The State government should function considering the welfare of the people, she said.Commenting on the sudden developments within the party, Sampath had claimed that he saw the handiwork of BJP.

Meanwhile, party’s Rajya Sabha MP, L. Ganesan maintained that the crisis would not have surfaced had former CM J. Jayalalithaa named her successor. Union Minister Pon Radhakrishnan too lashed out at the opposition parties for blaming his BJP.

Congress sees BJP ploy in AIADMK crisis

Though initially refusing to be drawn into any controversy involving the internal affairs of the party, TNCC chief Su. Thirunavukkarasar, who had shifted loyalties from the BJP, remarked that the BJP’s “ploy” had led to the present predicament in the AIADMK. “Who should lead the party or who should become the Chief Minister is purely the internal affairs of that party. I don’t want to interfere in the internal affairs of the AIADMK. This is the stand of the Congress. But, definitely the present political crisis in Tamil Nadu is due to the BJP’s ‘Thiruvilaiyadal,” Su. Thirunavukkarasar commented. “He (Thirunavukkarasar) was with the BJP. He is named after Siddhar. Siddhars always worked for universal well-being and never took a partisan approach,” the Minister added. Former TNCC chief E. V. K. S. Elangovan said one can't rule out the 'hand' of the BJP. "I vouchsafe what he (Thirunavukkarasar) had said. There is another problem in the AIADMK. The members want to get rid of the Sasikala family. And I don't think the AIADMK may be able to deliver clean rule, though it may be in power," he said when contacted.
