Telangana: Minister, MLA fight over protocol

Trouble broke out when Mr Venkat Reddy pulled up officials, alleging breach of protocol.

Hyderabad: Energy minister Jagadish Reddy and Congress MLA Komatireddy Venkat Reddy got into a heated argument during Nalgonda Zilla Parishad meeting on Wednesday.

Trouble broke out when Mr Venkat Reddy pulled up officials, alleging breach of protocol. Taking exception to this, Mr Jagadish Reddy asked the MLA to maintain decorum. This led to a heated argument, with the leaders attacking each other verbally.

An angry minister told the MLA to shut up and not to disrupt the proceedings. The heated argument continued for some time. “You are deliberately creating trouble. There is no breach of protocol,” the minister said.

ZP chairman Balu Naik and other legislators intervened and pacified both the leaders. Mr Jagadish Reddy said government was taking all measures to ensure drinking water reaches people, especially in areas where scarcity is more. He instructed officials to give top priority to supply of drinking water to villages.
