Telangana: Hotel raids bring to light dirty, unhygienic kitchens

Civic officials found that meat was stored for more than the permissible number of days.

Hyderabad: The kitchen premises of Hotel Sitara Grand, located on Road No. 12, Banjara Hills, and Spice 6 restaurant on Road No. 1, Banjara Hills, were in such an appallingly unhygienic state that even civic officials, who were conducting the check, were shocked. The civic officials fined the managements of the two hotels. In the ongoing checks of hotels and rest-aurants by the civic body, meat was found to be stored for more than the permissible number of days and cooked food being stored in the fridge, instead of disposing it off.

Raids were conducted on the following hotels on Wednesday:
Hotel Shivani, Dilsukhnagar, fined Rs 10,000 for storing stale food
Hotel Bawarchi at Dilshukhnagar, fined Rs 5,000 for unsanitary the kitchen
Hotel Shilpi, Dilshukhnagar, fined Rs 5,000 for unsanitary kitchen
Hotel Brundavan, Dilshukhnagar, fined Rs 5,000 for storing stale food.
Sitara Grand, and Spice 6 restaurant, Banjara Hills, fined Rs 10,000 and Rs 20,000 respectively for unhygienic kitchen conditions
Honey Food Sweet House, Kapra, fined Rs 5,000 for unhygienic conditions.
