RGIA carbon neutral at level 3+

The programme was launched in June 2009, and comprises four levels mapping, reduction, optimisation and neutrality.

Hyderabad: GMR Hyderabad International Airport received the carbon neutrality certificate from the Airports Council International. The certificate was given away at a ceremony organized by the ACI at Doha, Qatar.

The Airports Council International certified RGIA with Level 3+ Neutrality under its airport carbon accreditation programme. The programme is the industry standard for assessment of airports efforts to manage and reduce carbon emissions.

The programme was launched in June 2009, and comprises four levels — mapping, reduction, optimisation and neutrality.

Mr S.G.K. Kishore, CEO GMR Hyderabad International Airport Limited, said the airport would migrate to energy efficient LED lighting for the entire airport of which more than 75 per cent has been completed. This includes the recent accomplishment of converting the entire runway edge lights into LED.”
