Bengaluru: Traffic diversion at Adugodi makes life hell for commuters, residents
Bengaluru: While the government takes up development works in the interest of the public, they should not affect the normal life of the people. The BWSSB, which has started the works of laying sewer lines near Potallapa Garden at Adugodi, is making life miserable for residents and commuters.
Sharing her anguish, Ms Sahana, a resident of Potallapa Garden, said, “The construction is a nuisance. There is a lot of dust and with the road being made one-way, there is a lot of traffic near our residence. It gets worse during peak hours.”
Vehicle users, going through Hosur Road and Bannerghatta Road, too are affected. “The traffic police have diverted the traffic into the interiors of Potallapa Garden. The area lanes are already full with two-wheelers and cars of the residents. How can these roads accommodate such huge traffic? The traffic police should have thought through this,” said Mr Sundaram, a techie.
The BWSSB had finished laying sewer pipelines from Lakshman Rao Nagar to National Games Village a year ago. The final segment, which is adjacent to the National Institute of Animal Nutrition and Physiology, located in Adugodi, has been taken up now. Works that began last Friday are expected to be completed in 15 days. On vehicles parked on both sides of the road where traffic has been diverted, Assistant Commissioner of Police Natraj, in charge of traffic control up to Annepalya Junction, told Deccan Chronicle, “Unwanted parking on the main road is monitored by four towing vehicles throughout the day. On the first two days, traffic was moving towards Shantinagar Cemetery. We changed it to move in the opposite direction as we found it easier to manage.”
