Bengaluru bandh on April 28: No Bahubali first day, first show
Bengaluru: A Intensifying their protest against Tamil actor Sathyaraj, who is accused of insulting Kannadigas during a protest in connection with the Cauvery issue, Kannada activists headed by Vatal Nagaraj have called for a Bengaluru Bandh on April 28, the day S.S. Rajamouli’s magnum opus Babuhali 2 is set for world wide release.
Several Kananda organisations have demanded an unconditional apology from the Tamil actor. They have said that the film will be allowed to be released in the state only after the apology. At a press conference here on Wednesday, Vatal Nagaraj and members of other organisations also warned theatres against any attempt to release the film.
“As of now, we will protest with the bandh on April 28. However, Kannada activists will protest across the state and even near the Tamil Nadu border. We will intensify the agitation if any attempt is made to release the film despite our protests,” said Vatal Nagaraj. The activists have also planned a rally from Town Hall to Freedom Park on April 28.
Ever since an age-old video of actor Sathyaraj fuming against pro-Kannada activists while supporting the Tamil Nadu stand on Cauvery issue resurfaced, the love for Bahubali's famous character Kattappa has gone sour in the state with several Kannada activists threatening to stop the screening of the conclusion of Bahubali film across the state.
