AP excise department official slaps two employees

Two vehicles arrived at the petrol station at the same time and an employee, identified as Sasi Varma, began fuelling one of them.

Rajahmundry: A senior official of the AP excise department slapped two employees at a petrol pump as there was a delay in filling of the fuel tank of his vehicle at Yanam, the enclave of Puducherry in Andhra Pradesh on Wednesday.

Nandyal excise superintendent Yedlapalli Adi Narayana was on his way from Amalapuram to Kakinada on a private visit with his family when his driver stopped at an IOCL petrol station located along the highway for fuel.

Two vehicles arrived at the petrol station at the same time and an employee, identified as Sasi Varma, began fuelling one of them. The official who was in the other vehicle alighted from the vehicle and asked Mr Varma why he was being made to wait.

While, the employee tried to reply, the official allegedly lost his cool and slapped him twice.

There was a commotion and another employee, identified as Mr Rama Murthy, intervened but the official slapped him as well.

At this stage, the management of the petrol station took away the key of the official’s vehicle and sought an apology. They also alerted the police.

Police took the official, the two employees and representatives of the management to the police station. The official reportedly refused to tender an apology at the station also.

Only when the police informed him that they were going to register a case did the official relent and apologise to the employees. After this, the police let him go without registering a case in the incident.
