TRS leaders defend raids on colleges
Hyderabad: Alleging that major irregularities had been committed by some private educational institutions including professional colleges, TRS leaders on Tuesday said that the sector needs cleansing.
Defending the government’s decision to appoint a high-level task force with officials drawn from various departments, including education and police, TRS politburo member and MLC Karne Prabhakar said that previous governments in undivided state gave permissions to various colleges that lacked basic facilities and also indulged in lot of irregularities.
“It’s atrocious on the part of Congress leaders to support such institutions which are committing irregularities. Congress leaders have to decide whether they stand by people of Telangana or private college managements. Stringent action will be taken against institutions which lack minimum facilities,” Mr Prabhakar said.
Accusing some people of making education a business, he question why was there uproar if the institutions hadn’t done anything wrong. “Inspections of educational institutions is as per law,” he said.
Party MLC Bhanu Prasad too defended the government, saying educational institutions which do not provide basic facilities and were committing irregularities need to be dealt with firmly.
“Why do they fear inspections if they have done no wrong? While people are appreciating the government action, Congress leaders are quite upset for reasons best known to them. Our goal is to achieve Bangaru Telangana,” he said.
