Hyderabad: Four students hurt in lathi charge

The students came to the auditorium located on the Agriculture University campus to protest.

Hyderabad: Four students were injured in a lathicharge at the Acharya N.G. Ranga Agriculture University in Rajendranagar on Tuesday. The students were protesting against the visit of agriculture minister Pocharam Srinivas Reddy. The condition of one student is serious

The injured students belong to the P.V. Narasimha Rao Telangana State University for Veterinary, Animal & Fishery Sciences, located near the Agriculture University. The students came to the auditorium located on the Agriculture University campus to protest and submit a representation to the minister regarding recruitment of veterinary doctors.

One of the protesters, K. Tirupati Goud, a PG student at the P.V. Narsimha Rao Telangana State University for Veterinary, Animal and Fishery Sciences, said they had been demanding the recruitment of veterinary doctors to the post of Veterinary Assistant Surgeon (VAS) through the selection committee of the animal husbandry department. “When we went to meet the minister to submit our representation the police lathi charged us. Even though there were 250 women students there was no female cops,” he added.
