Telugu Desam fields prominent faces in Chittoor district

Naidu announces the remaining list of candidates.

Tirupati: The ruling Telugu Desam on Tuesday released its third list of candidates for the ensuing Assembly and Lok Sabha elections in Andhra Pradesh.

As part of the third list, the party has announced the names of 36 candidates for the assembly and Lok Sabha elections polls, thereby completing the list for all the seats in Andhra Pradesh.

TD chief N. Chandrababu Naidu will be contesting the Assembly polls for the seventh time from Kuppam, while his son N. Lokesh will be fighting his maiden electoral battle from Mangalagiri constituency in Amaravati capital region.

For Chittoor district, the party had earlier announced names for 10 Assembly seats and kept the remaining four Assembly seats pending.

The names in the fresh list have thrown up names for the remaining Assembly seats. They are G. Shankar Yadav from Thamballapalle, J.D. Raja Sekhar from Satyavedu (SC), G. Hari Krishna from Gangadhara Nellore and Therlam Poornam from Puthalapattu.

TD has given another chance to the sitting legislator of Thamballapalle, G. Shankar Yadav who secured 82,090 votes in 2014 elections and won against YSRC candidate Anipireddy Venkata Praveen Kumar Reddy with a majority of over 10,000 votes.

In Satyavedu (SC) constituency, the party has kept the sitting legislator Talari Aditya aside and has given the chance to J.D Raja Sekhar, a renowned social reformer in the district who recently joined the party.

Mr Sekhar had also contested as an independent candidate in 2014 polls from this constituency. For Gangadhara Nellore constituency, the TD has chosen Mr Krishna, TD’s segment In-charge and son of former minister Dr. G. Kuthuhalamma.

Meanwhile, the party has also announced the names of candidates for the three parliamentary constituencies associated with the district.

The sitting MP N. Siva Prasad has got another chance to contest from Chittoor Parliamentary constituency, while Panabaka Lakshmi and D. Sathya Prabha are going to be fielded from Tirupati and Rajampeta parliamentary constituencies, respectively.
