Nellore: Telugu Desam cadres demand Darsi ticket to Sudheer

Sources in the Telugu Desam said that Babu Rao has been looking at the party office in Darsi and planning to file his nomination on March 21.

Nellore: TD’s decision to allot Darsi Assembly segment (Prakasam district) ticket to Kanigiri legislator Kadiri Babu Rao has led to unrest among the Telugu Desam cadre in the constituency.

Surprising everyone concerned, TD gave Kanigiri ticket to former Congress leader Ugra Narasimha Reddy and shifted sitting member Kadiri Babu Rao to Darsi.

TD cadre has been owi-ng allegiance to sitting Darsi legislator and forest minister Sidda Ragh-ava Rao and raised a hue and cry over the choice as they have been hoping that the seat will go to Sidda Sudheer Babu, son of Raghava Rao, as the family has been nurturing the segment since a very long time and it is considered as Sidda’s bastion.

Sidda Raghava Rao had also reportedly requested Telugu Desam president N. Chandrababu Naidu to allot the ticket to his son, who has been managing the segment after his father became the minister, after he was asked to contest for Ongole Lok Sabha seat.

Taking strong objection to the party’s move to field Babu Rao, TD workers have threatened mass resignations if the party fails to replace Babu Rao with Sidda Sudheer Babu.
