Chennai: Two killed in two separate road mishaps

The two bus drivers involved in the two mishap have been arrested.

Chennai: Two people died in two different accidents in the city on Monday night. A 26-year-old woman died after being hit by a government bus at K. K. Nagar, and a 28-year-old man died after a mini truck knocked down his two-wheeler.

Fazana (26), a resident of Arumbakkam, was riding pillion while her husband Jaffar Ali (34) was driving the bike with their nine-year-old daughter sitting between them.

"The family were on the Poonamallee high road. Around 10 pm, as they were approaching Vembuliamman Koil street near Koyambedu, a government bus plying towards Arani hit the vehicle," said a police officer.

Jaffar Ali and his daughter fell away from the bus. However, Farzana fell on the road and the front tyre of the government bus ran over her.

She died on the spot. The Koyambedu Traffic Investigation police registered a case and arrested the bus driver Gandhi(37) from Thiruvannamalai.

Similarly, Murali(28), a resident of Athipattu village in Manali New Town, was riding with his friend Sudhir Kumar(40) towards Royapuram.

"A mini truck knocked the vehicle down near the Manali bus stand and Murali, who was ridingpillion , died on thespot ," informed a police officer.

The Madhavaram Traffic Investigation police registered a case and arrested the mini-truck driver, who has been identified as Bharath (35).
