Law & order in TN is deteriorating: Opposition
Chennai: The Assembly on Monday witnessed heated arguments between the ruling and the Opposition parties disrupting proceedings for more than half an hour.
It all started, when DMK legislator B. Ranganathan made a point in Assembly stating the Tamil Nadu police personnel were subjected to work pressure and severe stress, as a result two police personnel in Chennai committed suicide.
The first incident occurred at Ayanavaram police station in my Assembly constituency and the second incident at the memorial of former chief minister J Jayalalithaa, he said. The MLA further said that the state was not taking adequate steps to fill up the vacant positions in police department and blamed the state for not taking action against those involved in gutka scam.
Joining the chorus, DMK leader M.K. Stalin and Chepauk MLA Anbazhagan alleged that the law and order situation in TN was deteriorating and made remarks related to gutka scam. Intervening, Assembly speaker P. Dhanapal expunged the remarks made by the Opposition related to gutka and said that the matter was pending before the Madras high court.
