Kerala: Man arrested for knife-hurl murder

Woman's lungs were punctured in attack.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Kadinamkulam police arrested a 35-year-old man for allegedly murdering a woman by hurling a foldable knife at her earlier this month. The accused was identified as Yogesh alias Biju Das of Vettuthura, Channakara. The victim Etteruda Victor, 42, of Sithara house, Channankara was trying to break up a fight between the man and her son when the attack took place.

As per the police, Biju and the victim’s son Vijith Victor, 21, had a long-standing rivalry. They had engaged in fights three times and cases regarding this were pending at Kadinamkulam police station. The accused was a substance abuser.
On the fateful day, on March 11, Yogesh came with the intention of allegedly stabbing Vijith. They had a fight on a bylane in front of their house and Vijith suffered a cut with a machete.

Mrs Victor came out, dragged her son into the house and closed the gate. Yogesh then unfolded the knife and allegedly hurled it at his rival but it struck the back of the woman. Her lungs punctured and there was internal bleeding killing her. She was declared dead at the Medical College Hospital. The victim also leaves behind daughter Vijitha, a nurse. A team under Kadakkavoor Inspector of police B Mukesh Kumar arrested the accused who was also injured during the attack.
