Hyderabad: Speed on Outer Ring Road section to be regulated
Hyderabad: Motorists driving at high speeds on Outer Ring Road (ORR) will not escape the law in the coming days with the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority and Traffic Police wings of Cyberabad and Rachakonda deciding to take steps to implement the maximum speed limit rule effectively.
HMDA has been told to bring down the speed limit from 120 kmph to 100 kmph to check the rising number of accidents on ORR. The metropolitan body is waiting for an official word from the government to bring in the new speed rules into effect.
Instructions have also been given to the traffic department to enforce the rule strictly. HMDA has agreed to procure additional speed guns to be given to traffic personnel of Cyberabad and Rachakonda Commissionerates. E-challans of Rs 1,500 will be imposed on vehicles that go beyond the stipulated maximum speed limit.
HMDA commissioner T. Chiranjeevulu said that each traffic wing will be given equipment of nearly Rs 50 to Rs 60 lakh including speed guns.
