Telangana FM Rajender justifies his one lakh-crore Budgets
Hyderabad: Finance minister Etela Rajender on Saturday justified presenting Rs 1 lakh-crore Budgets despite the TS government falling short in spending for the last three years.
Saying that the state government was not a private limited company to assess the accurate revenues and spending every year, Mr Rajender said that the Budget estimates were prepared based on hopes and expectations on revenue earnings in various sectors.
Replying to the debate on the Budget in the Legislative Assembly on Saturday, Mr Rajender said even the Budget spending by governments in undivided AP from 2004 to 2014 were in the range of 67 per cent to 87 per cent and no government had ever achieved 100 per cent.
He said that the loans taken by the government were also within the prescribed limit and there was no question of the state falling into a debt trap.
