Hyderabad: Drunk bizman runs his car over school correspondent
Hyderabad: In yet another incident of drunk driving in Cyberabad commissionerate limits, a private school correspondent from Sangareddy fell victim in the wee hours of Wednesday.
The victim who was waiting for his friends near a hotel was hit by a car driven by a businessman, who was drunk.
The incident took place occurred around 12.40 am, near SS Grand Chef in Hafeezpet of Miyapur.
The victim was Afsar (40), working as correspondent of a private school at Kandi in Sangareddy and was residing at BHEL MIG area.
Afsar arrived at the hotel to meet his friends. He was sitting on his bike beside a pan shop.
Meanwhile, a car (AP 09 BS 5786) moving from Allwyn Colony towards Madhapur, rammed into Afsar, who was on the left side of the road, at very high speed.
The car came to a halt only after hitting three more bikes, which were all completely damaged. Afsar suffered multiple injuries. Locals gathered and alerted the Miyapur police who reached the spot took the car driver into custody. Afasr died while he was being rushed to a hospital.
Miyapur inspector S Venkatesh said, “Car driver Sathish, 35, who is into sand business was in a drunken condition. His rash driving killed Afsar.”
On performing a breathe analyser test, the Blood Alcohol Content of Sathish was recorded at 63 mg/100 ml.
A case was registered against the errant driver, who escaped unhurt and the police took him into custody. Further investigation is underway, the inspector said.
