The next focus area is the industrial sector whose GVA is Rs 11,472 crores (23.73 per cent), scoring sixth rank in AP.

Nellore: Some of the proposals to increase per capita income include improving farm livelihoods by reducing the cost of cultivation and more production by encouraging Zero Budget Natural Farming (ZBNF) which in turn reduces the usage of chemical fertilisers and pesticides in order to protect health.

Incidentally Nellore district stands at 1st place in AP in paddy 6711 kg/ha and third in Jowar productivity 3210 kg/ha. The highest paddy yield of 11,760 kg/ha was recorded in Nellore district and it topped at the national level. According to district planning wing officials, The Gross Value Added (GVA) by agriculture and allied sectors is Rs 16,495 crores (34.11 per cent), standing at the ninth position among all the districts. It is contributing 6.52 per cent in state agriculture GVA with a registered growth rate of 22.68 per cent at constant prices during the year 2017-18.

The gross cropped area is contributing to 71.82 per cent under agricultural and allied activities. The GVA for livestock (Rs 4,727 crores) is higher than that of agriculture (Rs 2,275 crores). The next focus area is the industrial sector whose GVA is Rs 11,472 crores (23.73 per cent), scoring sixth rank in AP. It is contributing 8.66 per cent in the state with a registered growth rate of 8.58 per cent at constant prices during the year 2017-18.The sector mainly includes construction, manufacturing and electricity.
