Hyderabad: The video of a girl being attacked in a Metro Rail lift has gone viral on social media; The video in circulation is not of Hyderabad but that of Malaysia. Commuters have been talking about how such incidents could occur in the city and asked of women had safety measures.
Travelling by the Hyderabad Metro Rail, it has been found that during non-peak hours there are very few people in the lift.
Despite there being CCTV cameras, women commuters are worried about their safety. Metro Rail officials stated that there was an emergency button for women.
A senior official said, “Most people these days are found to be too preoccupied with their mobile phones. People must be vigilant and alert if they are alone. They must read the safety instructions which have been put up in the lift for help in case of any emergency.”
The officials said they have only two floors and also that help was nearby but in case of any untoward incident, women commuters could activate the emergency alarm or seek help from the women security guards.
