Bengaluru: Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman unveiled a statue of former President Dr A.P.J. Abdul Kalam and inaugurated Kalam Sadbhavana Park in DRDO township at C.V. Raman Nagar.
She said, "He was not only a great scientist, but also a man with human touch. He radiated warm affectionate energy all around and touched the hearts and minds of everyone. There is message for all of us to emulate him by devoting our energy towards the karmas, without thinking of the gains."
She appreciated DRDO for developing state-of-art missiles. She advised to let the common man know the areas in which the research organization has been working.
The seven-feet tall bronze statue of Dr Kalam is surrounded by the models of Agni missile and Supersonic Cruise Missile Brahmost, Light Combat Aircraft - Tejas and Airborne Early Warning & Control Aircraft (AEW&C) - Netra.
The ecological park consists of a walking track, a lush green lawn and an open air gymnasium. Some of Dr Kalam’s motivational and encouraging quotes have been displayed at various locations in the park.
