Kamal Haasan meets senior' Vijayakanth
CHENNAI: Two days before the mega launch of his political innings, actor-activist Kamal Haasan on Monday declared his team would ensure that “Dravidian politics” succeeds yet again in Tamil Nadu as he called on his “senior” Vijayakanth. Kamal, who had been meeting top political leaders and friends to seek their wishes before he begins his state-wide tour from A. P. J. Abdul Kalam's residence in Rameswaram on Wednesday, drove to the Koyambedu office of the DMDK here and met Vijayakanth.
The leaders were engrossed in discussion for over 15 minutes after which Kamal said Vijayakanth welcomed his entry into politics. “Though he is junior to me in acting, Vijayakanth is senior to me in politics. So, I came to seek the blessings of the senior,” Kamal told reporters after the meeting. “Vijayakanth is a forerunner to me and Rajinikanth when it comes to politics. I have met him after a long time. He is my senior in politics,” Kamal said.
When asked to comment on BJP's claim that Dravidian politics had no future in Tamil Nadu, Kamal said, “Dravidian politics will emerge victorious in future too. We will prove it.” Kamal's visit to Vijayakanth's office comes a day after the actor met his co-star Rajinikanth and DMK President M Karunanidhi. Meanwhile, CEO of Naturals salon, C. K. Kumaravelu, has decided to join Kamal Haasan's party. Kumaravelu is the brother of CavinKare MD C. K. Ranganathan, married to Karunanidhi's grand daughter.
