He alleged that the protesters first raised slogans against him and then attacked his vehicle with rods, sticks and stones.

Jammu: Jammu and Kashmir Independent MLA Engineer Rashid on Saturday claimed he was attacked in Reasi district by a group of people carrying RSS and Bajrang Dal Flags for allegedly supporting pro-Afzal demonstrators in JNU.

"I was on my way to Rajouri when a group of 20-25 people who were carrying RSS and Bajrang Dal flags stopped my vehicle near Bamla under the jurisdiction of Reasi district," the Independent MLA from Langate constituency of Kashmir said.

He alleged that the protesters first raised slogans against him and then attacked his vehicle with rods, sticks and stones.

"Even I was hit by a stone, the police escort which accompanied me from Jammu saved my life otherwise they would have killed me as they tried to drag me out of my vehicle", he said.

Accusing the Station House Officer (SHO) of Sunderbani of helping the attackers, Rashid said, "strict action should be taken against him".

He also said that his attackers raised slogans against him.

Rashid said that the security personnel accompanying him somehow manage to help him flee from the spot but when he was on his way to Jammu, his vehicle was once again attacked by some people.

"It is my personal vehicle as I don't travel in government given vehicle. They have damaged my car completely", he said.

When asked whether he would lodge a police complaint against the attackers, Rashid said that the police must take congnisance and take action against the accused on its own.

"If anything of this sort happens in Kashmir, police is swift to slap PSA against Kashmiris then why the treatment is different with the goons in Jammu", he said.

When contacted, a senior police official said that they are investigation the matter and anything in this regard can be said only after verifying all the facts.
