He said the state government aims to provide employment to the local youths thorough these companies.

Warangal: Inaugurating the IT incubation centre at Madikonda industrial estate here on Friday, IT minister K.T. Rama Rao said many software companies would open their branches in Warangal and Karimnagar soon.

Addressing engineering college students, he said the state government aims to provide employment to the local youths thorough these companies.

“Warangal being the next big city in the Telangana, it is the best place to host IT companies. Though Warangal has the resources, it has been neglected for a long time now. From now on, our focus will be to develop the district in many fronts,” Mr Rama Rao said.

“The government is giving priority to developing Tier II cities. Steps are being taken to sign agreements with IT companies to set up branches in cities like Warangal and Karimnagar,” he said.

Mr Rama Rao laid the foundation stone for the Cyient office building. He said if IT companies come forward to set up units, the government would allocate land. The incubation centre and the companies that were coming to Warangal and Karimnagar would help the youths get employment after studies.

Cyient chairman Mohan Reddy said the unit had recruited 200 staff which would go up to 1,000 in 18 months.
